Alongside the event “Oslo Negative”, an outdoor exhibition was arranged. The initiator, Torgrim Halvari, invited photographers and artists. I entered with pictures from my Body Suspension project.

In September I took part in an exciting event at Litteraturhuset in Oslo that fantastic people from Oslo kamera klubb had organized. Katinka Goldberg, Jon Gorospe, Øivind Storm Bjerke and I, gave a lecture on the topic of what makes photography art. It was all well led by Stig Marlon Weston.
The tickets were all sold out!
My picture «Rosehip Roses» (Nyperoser) was selected for LensCulture´s Competition Gallery, Editor´s Picks.

«Helene Fjell har vært i bakgrunnen med kamera like lenge og jeg har i hvert fall to fete bøker i bokhylla – Ten Years of Pain (2003) og Wings of Desire – Learning to Fly (2012).
Purgatory, a new area of Copenhell, gathering sideshow, art exhibitions, tattoos, food and drinks. Pain Solution had great shows and my pictures of Pain Solution was exhibited in the Art tent area! Unfortunately I couldn’t travel myself.
In the summer of 2019, we were four artists exhibiting works made with the wet plate collodion process. Nina Staff, Sissel Annett, Jill Enfield and myself.
In December 2018, I was lucky enough to get an Artist in Residency at SAGA center of Photography at Inderøy. Here I worked with wet plate collodion.
Wet plate collodion is a photographic technique that was developed in the midd 18th century. It is an exciting and challenging technique. I have learned the techniques from Jill Enfield from the USA. She is a master in alternative photography techniques.
The picture is made on tin or glass. There is one exposure at the time. When the plate with collodion and silver is placed in the camera, it must be exposed and developed before the chemistry has time to dry.
My stay as an artist at SAGA was an experience far beyond what I had expected. I had unique and meaningful days. It was hard work but at the same time, it was like being in a long and good meditation.
On my may to Berlin, having an exhibition at Defying Gravity, Suspension symposium!
Great venue, and great help putting the exhibit up!
I am so happy for receiving bronze in MIFA, Moscow International Foto Awards, for my picture «Birch trees forest» in the category Nature/ Trees.
