Covering the period from 2003 until 2015, told in the words of the performers themselves, and seen through the lens of award winning photographer Helene Fjell, this book is a must have for aficionados of sideshow, body art, extreme performance, and powerful photography.

Ever since my brother, Håvve Fjell, started the performance group Pain Solution, I have been photographing. In 2015 we made the bokk To Bleed or Not to Bleed. Hard work, hours of planning and many meetings!

For a decade I have been photographing on a project together with my brother. He founded the suspension team «Wings of Desire» in 1992 and has since then hosted Oslo SusCon gathering people with an interest in hanging from hooks thru the skin. I have been following the events as often as possible, taking pictures.

For a long time we wanted to make a book, and when Wings of Desire had its 10th anniversary in 2012 we made our book «Learning to Fly».
